During a recent short hike to Baguang Heritiera Wetland Park in Dapeng New District, I had the pleasure of observing a diverse array of wildlife. Amongst the sightings were 15 bird species, 12 varieties of butterflies (including the rare Lycaenid species, the chocolate royal Remelana jangala), three fiddler crab species, three spider species, and the blue-spotted mudskipper.
Some 15 expats, including myself, recently participated in a guided tour to Baguang Heritiera Wetland Park in Dapeng New District.
Local residents in Shenzhen have undoubtedly started to sense the arrival of autumn, one of the most comfortable periods of the year in the city, even though midday temperatures still hover around 30 degrees Celsius. Located in a subtropical region, the typical autumn scenery characterized by golden and red leaves starting to fall off trees is absent in Shenzhen. Instead, the city has been known for its blooming flowers all year round, with different varieties in full swing each month.
MORE than 200 teams sailed off from Dapeng Bay in Dapeng New District on Nov. 1, starting the first day of competition in China’s largest regatta.
Shenzhen will host approximately 25 sports competitions over the next two months, including prestigious events like the China Cup International Regatta and the Shenzhen Marathon, bringing the total number of sports events of various levels held in the city in 2024 to around 200.
Tourists in Dapeng New District now have the opportunity to experience air taxi services thanks to a partnership between Heli-Eastern and the Yun Resort Shenzhen Longcheer. The resort will serve as the new helicopter route’s terminal.
The beachfront areas of Dongchong and Xichong on the Dapeng Peninsula in eastern Shenzhen allow hikers to savor the finest natural views. Hiking along the coast is a popular choice for both novice and seasoned hikers, presenting a bit of a challenge with steep steps and rope-assisted vertical climbs. Upon reaching the beachside, you’ll encounter stunning rock formations that have made this locale renowned in southern China.

During the 2024 China Outdoor Sports Industry Conference, held Saturday in Yunnan Province and hosted by the All-China Sports Federation, the China Mountaineering Association announced that Shenzhen’s 200-kilometer-long Kunpeng Trail had been selected as one of China’s Top 10 Destinations for Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports.
